About OHS Inc.
OHS Health & Safety Services, Inc., d.b.a., “Occupational Health Services” (“OHS™”) and Health Tests Direct (“HTD”) is a family-owned registered California corporation. Our business was originally started by our son, Rick, in 1991 in Jacksonville, Florida. Under the name “Collections Plus+”, Rick provided “on-site” drug and alcohol-abuse specimen collection services and also arranged the on-site performance of Department of Transportation (DOT)-type physical exams for companies that were located primarily in Florida and Georgia.
In 1994, Rick “recruited” his mother and stepfather – California residents – into his business, and it became our “family” business, initially dubbed Pooled Resources, Inc. (a take-off on our family name of “Poole”). Rick, his mother Jean, and “step-daddy Ed” began to offer drug testing and the Third Party Administration (“TPA”) management of drug testing services nationally, from both coasts- East and West.
In 1996 we changed our name to OHS Health & Safety Services, Incorporated. “OHS™” more accurately reflects the varied types of TPA services – in addition to drug testing – our clients had begun to ask us to set-up and manage for them. Our health and safety services menu includes: pre-placement physical evaluations, background check services, Respirator Exam and Certification - available online and via phone (IVR system) – plus online Reasonable Suspicion Training for supervisors. Our expert staff includes a nationally Board-Certified Occupational Health Physician, who performs employee physical assessments and also serves as our Medical Review Officer (MRO).
Today, our core business continues to be drug and alcohol-abuse prevention testing (specializing in “on-site” service). Our clients include small to large companies- local, national, and international in scope. We now provide drug testing, pre-placement physicals, or other workplace safety services to companies in all 50 U.S. states, and parts of Canada.
On August 21, 2002 OHS™ launched a “Business to Consumer” retail enterprise on the Internet. The new venture offers blood draws and 50-75% discounted laboratory blood test (analysis) services to the general public. We arrange this online service via a national network of certified clinics and labs all throughout the United States. This “personal services” division of OHS™ operates under the d.b.a. of “Health-Tests-Direct™”.
